At Pratt Munson, sophomore ComD students make logos for the American Heart Foundation. Initially, I started with this mascot heart that I picked from my twenty preliminary sketches.

I wanted to see what he would look like as a vector, so I took him into Adobe Illustrator and fleshed him out.

This was cute, but I was not confident that it would win as the prior year's logo was also a mascot. I wanted to push myself further, so I fleshed out my emblem idea.

I tried these iterations in color and black linework. Ultimately, I decided on the middle one with a few tweaks.

Here is the finished product! While I did not win the contest, it was a good learning experience for me. I had never gone through the process of creating a logo before. Congratulations to the winner!!
